Do you have an older camera that is collecting dust, since you have upgraded?
I sure could use it !
for the kids I teach.
Artist in Residence with the Vancouver School Board.
I had the pleasure of working with 3 groups of students as an Artist in Residence – a VSB program which provides grants to classrooms and teachers who wish to elaborate on their curriculum by incorporating arts to compliment their area of study.
These particular grants provided an opportunity, for me as the artist, to work with the students on a small project which allowed them to be introduced to a chosen area of digital photography.
Van Tech students were introduced to general information about digital cameras and how they compare to film cameras. White balance, Higher ISO and exposure compositions were various features they explored with their cameras. All images are with digital cameras.
Point Grey students were introduced to the camera, and few features of Photoshop, and introduction to storytelling with pictures. All images are with digital cameras.
Eric Hamber students were encouraged to learn and experiment with portraiture using a new strobe studio. The portraits were with film and digital cameras.
The Artist in Residence grant allows for only 5 visits to the classroom, so this show would not have been possible without the continuing support and knowledge of the school teacher beyond the allotted workshops.
I wish to thank Ms. Jones, Mr. Bosello and Ms. Adamovitch for picking me as the artist for their classroom, for supporting this show, and for working with the students to bring their work to be viewed by all of you here at the VSB.
Thanks also to the students who participated in these workshops, had the courage to experiment with their new knowledge, and had the courage to have it displayed.
Photographic Work from these 3 groups are now displayed at the VSB
